I'm going to go see this in just over an hour :) This has got to be one of the most anticipated movies in quite some time and I've been waiting for it ever since the end of Batman: Begins. For those that have seen it, what's your opinion. For those that haven't...why haven't you!?

I am curious to see if Ledgers performance is good since they are already talking about Oscars. I thought he was really good in "The Four Feathers".

I was set to see it on Thursday at midnight, however all seven theatres were sold out. They had a thing on the radio saying it was one of the fastest sellouts in history. I think I will try to go Sunday...

Amazing.

Ledger gave one of the most memorable performances ever. He wasn't playing the Joker, he WAS the Joker.

Only complaint about the movie was there wasn't enough of Batman...

I did not think it was that good. Ironman And The Incredible Hulk were much better IMO

Agreed to a certain extent. I think we can all agree on Ledger's performance. The movie was long, almost too long if you ask me. I thought there was plenty of batman in the movie, although not much of the "oh sweeeet" kind of deals (granted there were many moments were everyone in the theater applauded and yelled in excitement) but just can't seem to beat the first movie in terms of "oh sweet, check that new thing out!"

This is definitely a movie I will see again!

Good to hear :) I can't wait for it to come out on Blu-ray (if it does) as I will then be able to watch it in its full glory..in my bedroom/living room rather than a crowded theater.

There's still a friend of mine who has yet to see Batman Begins..been bugging him for about 2 weeks to see it and then see the Dark Knight but he isn't motivated enough :-O

Great flick! Will own it when it hits dvd. Ledger was an awsome Joker. I had my worries about him cause I was never a big fan of his act'n skills but he floored me with that performance. I really like the fact that they didn't get to cartoony with his character like they did when Jack had the role. He made the movie for me as he played the role of a nut job to the tee. Christian Bale (Great in "Harsh Times" by the way.) gets his credit too but I think his thunder got lost to the bad guy in this one.

Having just seen this film for the first time, I agree, the way Ledger became the Joker was frightening, he had to embrace a core of depravity to make that character work the way he did. I will say that (IMO), he was the best Batman villain to date. Seeing Ledger act in that role, I could not but compare it to Kurt Cobain's grunge music. It seemed like they both pulled content from some hidden internal misery; now these two are both gone, what a terrible waste.

Oh, and Travis, please feel free to post all the films you do not like as a list; that will give me a snap shot of flicks to check out...I'll probably enjoy them. You could be my own personal Gene Shalit; if he hated a movie, I usually liked it...well 90% of the time anyway <vbg>.

Thats funny.

I liked the film, but it wasn't that great. Like I said, Iron Man and The Incredible Hulk were better,IMO.

Bale as Batman is horrible. His voice is ridiculous. He sounds like he has been gargling with broken glass. Bale as Bruce Wayne however is great! I think he pulls that character off with style.

Ledger, not impressed. All I have to say is if he didn't die/kill himself, his performance would not be considered as good. It was good, but not as good as people make it.

Personally Aaron Eckhart was the best to me. His ability to play a full fledge goodie goodie, then suddenly snap was great. Him as Two-Face was the best, IMO.

I agree and disagree.

Aaron was awesome, something I did not expect, and Bale as Batman is not my favorite. Bale as Wayne is amazing and borrows slightly from his Patrick Bateman role in American Psycho. (Very rich, stylish and slightly sarcastic) But I have to say it is Ledgers parts that really reeled me in. Everytime the joker would show up, it was like the movie stopped and took a new direction. I agree with mancos, easily the best batman villian and perhaps the greatest villian in movie history. I love how he embraced the similarities between himself and the caped crusader and somehow reveled in their differences. A fantastic script and great acting all around. (Except for batmans voice...I actually found myself laughing at how ridiculous it was.)

I totally agree with the comments about Bale as Batman, the voice is really bad

Ledger's Joker was fantastic, as far as, if you did not know it was Ledger under that make-up, you could not figure out who he was. That is what I call immersing yourself in the role. An extraordinary performance! But Bale's performance wasn't up to par of his first portrayal. I thought his Batman was lacking, and all the actors who played Bruce Wayne (as Bruce) did a believable job.
What bothers me about the current Batman films, is that they just seem to be remaking the Keaton ones. As long as Batman has been around, and all the villains he faced, they keep using the same ones. Except for Ledger's performance, (which set it apart) this was just another remake.
I really don't see another direction for the Batman genre, like they claim these movies are.
If they wanted to go in another direction, they should make a version of the "The Dark Knight Returns" by Frank Miller, and make it in the manner of "Sin City", "300", and the "Spirit" movies. Now that I would like to see!

For those who don't know, Miller's 'Dark Knight Returns' takes place years after Batman retires, and was a very popular graphic novel. It is about him coming back (now as a old man) to save Gotham again.

Now that you guys mention it, I do remember wondering if Batman was thinking he was Clint Eastwood, doing a Gunny Highway impersination from Heartbreak Ridge...

Had a chap on the ship from "West by God virginia" (it's a sailor story for you landlubbers) came back in Olongapo city pi so mashed up drunk, Quarter deck watch called out a ten man working party, after a few minutes revised that to a 20 man working party!! to bring him aboard!!! when told he wasn't allowed to bring the chicken he had under his arm aboard, he promply wrung it's neck tossed it over the side and threw the quarterdecks watch podium over the side too! then went after the officer of the deck(who had the GOOD sense to run ) wilst the armed deck gaurd ran also!!
At captains mast , when asked what he had to say for himself by the captain, his answer was " why don't we settle this like men?" off to the brig bread an water for three days! upon his return was a bit more receptive .
PS the marines at the brig lived in fear of this guy!
This guy was restricked to the ship so long, he was able to get humanitarian liberty from the captain (snicker snicker) (think about what sailors do best besides drinking) in port for two hrs if he could find a chief to go over with him!
just one of the multitude of old sailor stories from the real Navy , not this modern so called Navy.

Goose, love them sea tales. Once back in my drinking days, I'm waiting on my porch for the cops to show up. Sure enough two of Hawleys best arrive, ask if I'm bob, I nod affirmative. They put there heads together, then tell me not to go any where as they will be right back(don't think they get paid much). Sure enough they come back with more cops! Fortunately for everyone involved one cop was an ex marine who I knew from the range and greatly respected, He asked if I was gonna cause trouble, and of course I said no. Made the other cops look like pu$$ys, which was good enough for me. Got me for drunk and disorderly conduct, couldn't find anyone who wanted to press charges. I don't drink any more.

What's the difference between a sea story an a fairy tale??
