Has anyone seen this ? i caught it late last night. it has a few strong points, great viking armour, fair battle sences, so so plot, no love interest. I Rated it at a mere -1 on the t+a scale.
But what held my attention was the viking war helmets, they was COOL!! wish i had some, talk about striking fear in your opponent!!! it's very dark ala 13th warrior, and their personel hygiene is very apparent, snow rain, battles
I rate it a 2 star movie. ( but the helmets alone rate a 5)

I like the movie myself. Don't think its a great quality piece but it is entertaining. As unhistorical as they are I also loved the helmets. I wondered through the whole though thing though how he picked up the sword and was suddenly good enough to beat Viking warriors with it. His startegies throught the movie were pretty good.
Bit of trivia- They made the Vikings look bigger by having them wear football pads under the furs.

I was struck with they never took off the "heavy" armour. i can't imagin how that was to walk/run around in.
as i say to my wife on occasion " it's a movie, if they didn't do that it wouldn't be any good to watch"

It gets too seeming lighter when you wear it for a while. They were there in Canada in early spring. I know when the weather starts turning cold the first thing I grab in the field is my body armor. I bet steal armor cuts the wind just as well.

This one was a little far fetched, but the fights and gear was cool. But not on par with say, brotherhood of the wolf.

My wife watched it and said all they did was find-em kill em all and find some more , she didn't like it. the gear was what i liked the best about it.

Actually, if you study your history, they did do that. They were in foreign territory, to remove their armour for anything, might result in an attack or death. They were used to it. Read the Crusades, how they marched through the desert in full armour, watch the movie "Kingdom of Heaven". The helmets would come off to go to sleep, otherwise they lived in their clothes and armour. They didn't worry about bathes or personal hygiene either. Watch your old westerns, ever notice how all the cowboys wore long johns under their clothes all the time. Would you be able to wear long johns in the burning sun? They did.
The movie wasn't that great, but I too loved the armour, it was right out of a Frank Frazetta or Simon Bisely print. I would watch this movie again, only to look at the wonderfull job they did on the armour.

I can't agree on KOH, I was not interested at all. I liked Pathfinder though!
