How many yen would I have to drop to get one of those beauties?

Several thousand yen :P
I thought the serrated katana and the reverse blade katanas looked very nice though. Reminds me a lot of Rurouni Kenshin, the anime, where a reverse blade and a serrated blade were used.

Enter sikaya.co.jp into Google and you have the option to translate the pages into English along with the prices in Yen...they're "mock" swords made of alloy.;)

That would explain their crazy pricing, which was all I could read, maybe that is what the kid Ms Kiddo spanked was holding, when she sliced it up like day old bread.

Yeah basically as a rounded/estimated number, $1 is about 100 Yen.

I was looking at the one's I presented as more conceptual, rather than accurate.Truth be told most swords on the market today are not historically accurate.
The tsuka on the Nodachi [long sword] had an interesting wrap, and the cord wrapping on the blade resembled the wrap of an medieval Landsknecht sword.
I found the serrated edge interesting also, with the new metalurgies they have now, could this be made practical on a sword?
Sometimes movie swords are horribly impractical, but sometimes some ideas can be feasible.
I thought the idea of a wrap on the blade itself, on the long sword would actually be easier to handle than the current incarntions of Nagamaki's.
I always felt a Nagamaki with a wood/naginata type grip was way more functional than the super long tsuka look that you now see everywhere.

I see what you are saying, yes, I think you have a good point, some of the best knife work I have ever done was with parachute cord wrapped type blades that most folks at the knife shows thought ugly and worthless, but I see them as form following function. These look like they are wrapped in bamboo or a synthetic of some sort. I am thinking that a good blade, with some scales screwed to it behind the guard, then wrapped with either parachute cord or something similar, might just be the ultimate beater for the big ending scene that is approaching.
BTW, Is Microsoft making tsuba's now, that one up there has the Windows emblem! Is nothing safe?

Thats probably rattan, I rather like parachute cord wrapped knife handles, they have good grip in every condition and you can take it off and make a spear out of the knife and a good stick using the cord to tie it on

Whats the matter, you work for a company that is HQ'd in NYC? You got your own laptop by any chance? If so, any other companies or wi-fi signals within 400 feet of your workstation? Try a sniffer program like the they use when war driving to find a wireless signal you can infiltrate nearby. Rogue access points are stoppable, but only while active, so don't install any hardware on your own network. Depending on encription levels you can get by with lots of high-jinks if you move about often...take a look around this site:

Had to wait till I got to the abode to get to the site. I prefer to keep a low profile and out of trouble-Prisons are best viewed from the outside and at a distance=))
