It looks great Goose, Lohman does some increadible work, a little pricy, but very high quality. That Wakizashi has a nice Sori, Waks are really one of my favorite sized swords, not to long, not to short, and it (or a Tanto) was always with a Samurai.

Goose your living the life. I look at the Hamon on that wak and it just gives me Goose Bumps, pun intended. Those saya's are pure art. And Lohman's is worth the money fer sure, anything less on those blades would be a sin. Is there any chance we can get a close up of the Habiki and tsuba of the wak? Thanks for sharing Goose. The wak is the older of the two is it not?

the wac is late muromachi era (1560"s) it's a sue seki (school), katana is shin shinto(1860's) no school but polished in koto style, Both tusba's are menji period. Both swords are munei ( unsighed )attached disclaimer ( this information is as accurate as described to me by seller) any misquotes on my part are totally due to ignorence.
will get a pic of habaki and tusba this evening bob-o.
thank you all for your gracious comments, these swords have been a dream of mine since 1982, that dream is now reality, took awhile but never give up on your dreams !

ya know funny you should say that "caretaker" i was hesitant to buy nihonto because of the history involved, i hate to see a piece of it ruined because i was careless. That's just the way i feel , a caretaker for the next person that will own these and pass them on.i thought about it for some time , decided i was able to put in the time and care, then did it.

those beauties are in very safe hands goose. i dont think they could ever ask for a better "caretaker", the pictures speak for themselves.
and WOW much respect to Fred Lohman, its pure beauty, the fact that you sent these to him shows that your giving them the love they deserve.

also is it just my eyes or does the wak have like a 3 inch bohi? is that common?

69 ninja
your eyes donot decieve, yes about three inch full size bo-hi with a smaller one above it, also on oposite side two smaller ones about the same length. My limited understanding is they serve two purposes, first to lighten the blade, balence wise, secondly if by chance a forging imperfection should arise during polishing it can be "lost" in cutting a bo-hi whereas the offending portion is cut away like it never existed.
thanks for the kind words

Wonderfull reference on being a caretaker, what a great one you are!

Kanshoto: sword intended as an art object for aesthetic appreciation [kanshoyo], not actual use.
You have taken one object of art [the blades] and now made them a complete object of art.
I love the hamon on those swords!
