Just got this one in today
http://www.swordsofmight.com/index.asp?PageAction=VIEWPROD&ProdID=485
Did a quick impromptu video review just to see how it would come out.
Its actually a really good sword for the price. Enjoy. Hope its not too long.

Firehand, very cool. That review really gives you a sense of the whole sword buying experience. I see you still have that old table top. I'm going to modify my cutting stand for bottles ,I'll send pic's when I do, I think you'll like it. lol I see shaggy has enough smarts to stay away from you when your cutting. Good stuff, Thanks for sharing.

I agree, great post! :ohyeah:
You have a beautifull daughter, I can
tell you are very proud of her! :)
You have to get rid of your table top though!
Your support base should be the same size or smaller than your target.
You subconsciously are trying not to hit the table and as a result you cuts don't look as good. That table would bother even an expert, as any diagonal cut would hit it.
Truthfully, I doubt very much that your father would have bent your sword if you didn't have it on that big tree stumph, if you would have had it on a smaller base/stand I doubt if he would have hit it.
Also for a big stand, you have it too low, close to waist level, your eye can't focus on the target looking down, especially on that big base.
Imagine if you raised that base up to chest level, all you can see then is the bottle, easier to focus, although you still might hit the table [too big!]
Even just to stick a 4X4 fence post into the ground might work, since you cut outside anyway. Try it, see if it works! And it couldn't hurt to try.
These are just my observations.

Awesome post Firehand! I like how you show that there was a problem and even though you know I would have returned the item you fixed it yourself. You are very smart as I think that anyone buying a sword should know how to service it if need be. You don't know how many people tell me their sword is broken and send it back to me and I fix it in five minutes! I agree with Dotanuki on the table, but I'm sure you are a busy guy and just happy to cut when you can. Thanks alot!

Thanks and I know about the tabletop thing but I'm training to be any sort of expert so the adversity kind of amuses me and its like a durability test. I plan to put something better together later this season. I'm designing something much better for my multi-target attacks. As far as the bend on the stump- the bend wouldn't have been there if it would have moved a bit but watching the swing I think he'd have still naied the stand. I would have back when I started.

=)) Hey, that table top passed every durability test imaginable!
You ought have it made into a buckler!:SandS:
It almost has magical properties now, were you using your crystals on it by any chance? :-?

Actually I meant the heavy table top is a durability test for the swords.
No, I haven't used the crystals on it. I wonder if I could get the gashes and hacks to heal up.:-? Actually it may have something left to it since I just called it table top to avoid confusion. It was never marked but I originally cut it to build an oracle board (similar to ouija but better).

It was still good when I left but I haven't gotten to play with it since I've been in Korea the last six months. I don't really use it much anyway though since I bought it mostly for the look. Its smaller than i prefer when i go out to play.
