I have the musashi katana but not that Masahiro one. I do have a more expensive Masahiro (the cherry blossom) and find that I actually would choose the Musashi Katana.
There are detailed reviews of the Musashi and some Masahiros in the reviews section here.

Personally overall I think I like the Musashi brands better than the Masahiro. I just like the look of the Musashi katanas better than the Masahiro, but I am not exactly sure which one necessarily is of a better quality overall.

Interesting. I actually like the look of the Masahiros better and they seem comparably assembled but of the ones I have the Musashi arrived sharper. To me the sharpness of the blade says something to the effort applied to its making.

I don't own any Musashi Swords but I have had a few Masahiro Swords, and the ones I have bought were well worth the money. The Kill Bill line is great, some features like sharpness and how tight the tsuka ito (handle wrap) is are hit and miss, but I have been able to cut successfully with all my Masahiro blades, and they look good on display

I don't have any Musashi but I have several Masahiros and they are good but like Brian said their quality is hit and miss. Some were incredibly dull. If you ask Jason he will give you and honest answer.

I think it would all depend on which ones you have in mind... If you give me some specific models you are interested in it would narrow down the field a little.

I own the Musashi Katana and found it to be very sharp and a great cutter. It almost has little to no vibration when striking targets. The fit and finish was decent and the furnishings were what I would expect for the cost.
I also own a Masahiro kit katana. The furnishings on that sword were of good quality but it did not cut as well as the Musashi. This being said you have to remember this my opinionand I only have one sword from each forge. Jason's opinion would the most definitive answer.

Taygrd, were the prices of the two katanas similar?

Very good question. The Mashiro kit was $99 and came with two tsuba. The Masushi was $50. I feel that I got more than my money's worth on both of them.(SOM)

I would say for looks I would pick the Masahiro Elite and for Cutting I would pick the Musashi katana. (Out of the ones you picked anyway)

I have bought two masahiro katanas and have not regreted it once. I dont like the musashi katanas because they put their logo on the habaki(blade collar) and I think that kinda ruins the look of the sword. The description of the sword also tells you how sharp the blade is. Although, if it says "fully sharpened" it means that the entire length of the blade is sharpened, not that it is very sharp. I thought this when I bought the masahiro elite fuji katana and found out that it was really not that sharp. I bought the philosophy a while later and it is extremely sharp, and my favorite sword.

I own both musashi and masahiro I think it is really Dependant on the model, most of the musashi are probably better blades thicker sharper straighter except for those with the musashi etched into the blade is memory serves they are improperly sharpened with a secondary edge. with that said i have a masahiro assemble yourself katana which is a nice piece for the price a sharp decent cutter which is attractive in my opinion very nice balance with the heavier tsuba it comes with 2.

Has what? I only see one musashi sword listed and without a pic, and based on the description I expect its a sword with the common Musashi double ring tsuba, not one by the Musashi company. Especially since I don't remember the Musashi company placing much emphasis on golden kurigata when they're already known for pretty good quality.

Well I looked this site over and I must say you can buy a cheap sword cheap there, or you can wait till Saturday and buy the same one cheaper from the local flea market. The swords we are discussing here are not merely decoration, they are made to cut with. Most of our members understand that and appreciate a decent sword. I did not see a sword that was from the same manufactures on the site listed. Just a friendly observation and a recommendation to compare apples to apples.:)

BBnomad was trying to advertise his company by acting as another customer. Due to the diligence of our members he was detected and the post deleted.

I would recommend the Musashi brand sword. I have 2 musashi Katana and they're excellent quality. Also I have heard that the Musashi brand musashi katana is a good cutter if you're interested in using it as a cutting sword. good luck with your purchase.

I have the Masahiro Elite Kenshin which I assume is the exact same as the Elite Musashi, excluding the Ito color and the Tsuba.
I was a little displeased with the blade not releasing from the saya without ease. Other than that, it's a fine Katana and Masahiro a fine brand, if you will.
I also have a Musashi. It's the Last Samurai replica. It also is a fine katana/brand (for the price)

if you are looking for blade quality the musashi blades are just a touch better. i own several of each and would take any of then into a fight but i like musashi blades "they dance better".

Musashi has some new blades that are clayed for under 100.00, check out the Black Bamboo or the Mokko Gata, great cutters and tight fittings. Surprisingly there are no cracks in the tsuka on both my Bamboo katanas. I have yet test drive a Masahiro.

Hey everyone, God it's been almost a month since i last posted.

Well the bottom line is it depends what you want it for, if youy want a nice wallhanger for a bit of on the fly Tameshagiri then go for the Mashiro, If you want somthing that can be used in a dojo then get the Musashi.

But if you want somthing for serious cutting get the Mashiro Elite or go for a decent Paul Chen Practical.
