Any of you guys know a good site where i can get a custom tsuka. I checked out the Fred Lohman site and saw that they do custom tsuka there but i want to put fittings on a lower end sword and i feel the price there is worth spending on for this blade. Its a Musashi Shirasaya and i want to add fittings to it for a low cost, any help is appreciated.

Your welcome, I am thinkin of having Thomas L Buck do my PC Bushido Katana and Wakizashi when they are paid off, as most everyone knows he wrote "The Art of Tsukamakai" so I assume he's pretty good. Nihonzashi also does great work, they are getting my PC PPKE next month, it's getting a full black same wrap, purple silk tsuka -maki, the aoi menuki, full rattan wrap on the saya (laquered gloss black) and some tip reshaping cause I let my buddy try my sword out and he slightly chipped the tip of the blade (not much it will probably be fixed with a good sharpening) I will post pics of both when they are finished

Might be a little intense for a begginer but why not make it your self that way you could have what ever colors on it you wanted? just my 2 cents though.

if I had the time patients and tools I would consider making my own, but right now it is easier to have someone do it

I have to agree with sairon. After seeing all of these guys (Goose, Taygrd) making their own stuff, If I had the time I would definetly get into making my own.

I really think most people can do this sort of thing, and it is fun for me to see someone else enjoying the craft. Once you take the mystery out of it it becomes accesable. It does take time and patience. For example, I do not work on my own cars. I get mad and use a hammer. It is eaiser for me (like Brian said) to have someone else do it because I have no patience for it. If you apply yourself to something I feel you can get good results sometimes. This applies to everything except Golf. Golf was invented by an evil drunk Scotsman, who is no doubt related to me. :mace: I have not attempted to build a katana, it is easier for me to get them from Jason. :) PS Love that Musashi shirasaya, going to make the koshirae for that dude soon.
