Basically as the title says, is there a difference from a "hi" and a "bo-hi"? Doing a little bit of research, it seems to be the same thing but maybe it's not. So, katana experts out there, is there a difference?

Well a HI is more likely to be used for it's beauty(like on a tanto) then any thing else.Where as BO-HI is more likely to be used to hide forging imperfections and lowing the weight of the sword. It does not make the blade stronger !
