I've been pretty busy lately, researching, trading, receiving, and of course cleaning up new swords. All are "battle ready" and sharp, of course. As of today I have added the following new swords to my collection:

J; Thank you...it's always a pleasure to share with my buddies here at Sword Central.
Zen; Thanks for the kind words....actually the Cromwell blade is 32 3/4" long and the Mortuary Hilt is 33". It's the camera angle that makes it look so long. They are both "half basket" cut and thrust side swords. The half basket is an exclusively English design. The main difference is that the Cromwell is a backsword and the Mortuary Hilt is a broadsword. They are both very light and well balanced and a pleasure to wield. I don't cut any more since I moved into an apartment, but all my swords are fully functional and sharp. :)

bobO; My pleasure to share ol' friend.....the Munich's blade is a bit wider than the Renaissance Side Sword; it would be great in the cut and slash!

Hey Jim, from what I understand Windlass makes the shamshir for CS on the same blade as their own version, is there a reason you went with their version over the Windlass branded shamshir? Was it the out of the box sharpness? Cause I've been looking at them and I'm tempted, but I'm torn. I like the horn handle on the Cold Steel, but I like the Windlass cross a lot better.

Will; you're absolutely correct. I've been told by professionals in the business that Windlass Steelcrafts does indeed make some of the swords for Cold Steel. Their forte is sabers. The reason I chose the Cold Steel version over the Windlass is that for one thing I think the Cold Steel versions are made to a slightly higher standard. I have several swords and a dirk with the Cold Steel brand and they're all unbelievably rugged and super sharp and high quality. A little better finish too. The hilt on the Cold Steel Shamshir is actually faux buffalo horn, but looks and feels absolutely authentic and I believe it's made from a space-age polymer which makes it even sturdier (buffalo horn can crack). The brass guard is actually historically accurate and very good looking. Hope this answers your questions. :)

Cold Steel has a number of very nice swords, their advantage over Windlass seems to be their finish and the fact that they come sharpened. If I remember Windlass uses a cooperative of manufacturers to make their swords so it's more that likely that the same factories make both brands.

Very nice.Torawashi, i like the Cold Steel saber.
Say, does it have Cold Steel or made in USA written anywhere on it? Just got my Cold Steel Wak yesterday and it doesn't.

Cold steel generally doesn't mark there swords and as far as I know nothing they sell is made in the US. Even their American brand tomahawks are made in Taiwan. Their swords are made in India and China, their machetes are made in South Africa, and most if not all of their knives are Chinese made.

I know several of their folding knives (the 3 I have) are made in Japan.

Guess that's why they don't mark'em anymore. They USED to be USA made and stated it. Times have changed. Ross Perot was right about the giant sucking sound. :>
They still make good quality blades...i know have a knife, axe and wak from them. :)

Which ones do you have Firehand? With the exception of a tri-fold all of mine are from there less expensive models, maybe their higher end ones are made in japan.
