I just recently found this video of the Kage Ryu. This was one of the links I gave in the longer tsuka thread, KageRyu Choken Battojutsu. This video shows exactly how they use the longer sword.

I'm sure Wolfhound will find this interesting.

Thank You for that link Dotanuki.. I've never seen noto like that.. always wondered how it was done! Amazing. =D> KK edit: (For the Gooseman.. Ubu-Ha is the unsharpened area of the blade).

Only just realized that this was posted and your right Dot, it is extremely interesting to me.
I never knew that was humanly possible and the blade was a proper old-skool Nodachi, not the newer and slightly shorter Odachi being used in place of a Nodachi which you sometimes find happening.
It also looks like a type of Iaido where the Wakizashi (Shoto) Isn't optional, It's a full blown requirement :)

Dot.
Great video! i watched as he (noto'd) the blade, he appeared to handle the Tusba/blade at the very base. I've read that "new" Nihonto where not polished(sharpened)at the very base, maybe that's what he's doing??
Please correct if i've misinterpated
