Quick, resilient, and deadly! (http://www.swordsofmight.com/paulchenpracticalgongfubroadsword.aspx)

In a world where Katanas and Medieval swords reign supreme it's rare to find a Chinese Broadsword of this caliber. But alas, Hanwei delivers with The Broadsword from their "Practical GongFu Series". At first I was takenback, even a little disappointed, with how light it was. But that quickly diminished as I withdrew the blade and handled it. When drawing the sword it makes a wonderful "Shing!" sound followed by a threatening "Hiss" sound as it slices through the air. Additionally, the blade resonated with a "Ding" as it cut through water bottles and 2 inch branches... With GREAT ease I should mention.

The Pros: Despite it only being 1.75 lbs, it is definitely a durable blade. The handle is wrapped nice and tight so it doesn't slip. The fittings are good and secure, so they don't rattle like some other broadswords that I've worked with. The black, textured wooden scabbard with steel fittings makes for a nice aesthetic touch... Oh, and don't forget it "Shings", "Hisses" and "Dings"... That's important. lol B-)

The cons: I expected a higher polish to the blade, not sure why but I did. The blade itself had a slight whip to it, but I should mention it's NOTHING like Wushu steel. So with that being said, this isn't a blade I would "clash" a lot while in battle... Though I believe it would remain intact, but not "clashing" it is just a precaution.

Conclusion: This is a blade that I would gladly take into battle!... Now if mankind would do the honorable thing and lay down his firearm. =))

I believe they were called plum blossom sabres, if my memory serves me correct. :)
