Ok I guess this is my night for movies that have a classic feel to them, this is another film I would highly recommend to fans of the Sherlock Holmes stories and movies. While Basil Rathbone will always be Sherlock Holmes in my mind, Robert Downey Jr. did a fine job playing the great detective. While I am afraid this film was not the block buster that other holiday films were, it far exceeds most of them, but with out the flash and bang of high tech it was lost amoung the others. This is a thinking man's (woman's) movie, you have to listen to the dialogue and watch the images as they unfold on the screen, something most people seem to have lost the ability to do...so if you're a fan of Sherlock and Watson see it..you wont regret it.

I agree, great movie, I thought they captured the tone of the books nicely, Speaking of tones the palette for this movie was dead on. One thing is Watson was a little more assertive then we are use to, but still true to the man. Just found out I can claim clan watson, nothing to do with the movie but still cool.

....wholeheartedly agree.....saw this movie and liked it.....I thought Jude Law stole the movie as Watson....in the books, Watson was not the bumbling maladroit portrayed in many of the movies, but I agree that Basil Rathbone and Nigel Bruce will always be my favorite Holmes and Watson. I give this movie 3 enthusiastic thumbs up!

Darn it that's where my other thumb went. Give it back. Half the room left when I tried to give the movie 2 toes up.

Great movie, at first I was a little esceptic since the trailer made it seem dumb but I was amazed how they stayed true to the nature of the original novels :detective:

:-OThe newest attempt to duplcate the master work of the Rathbone movies was helped by special effects, without them, it would have died a slow death, which perhaps it should have. Worth the ticket price but not waiting in line for.:Praying:

All I can say is:
"I've never woken up in handcuffs before."
Well, I have...and what happens at Dragon-con, stays at dragon-con.
