After our thread "Paradoxes of Defense" I started surfing youtube for movies of this time period. I came across the movie "1612: Chronicles of the Dark Time", a russian epic.
This movie is truely a epic! I enjoyed this movie even more than the "Kingdom of Heaven". This like the aforementioned "KoH" is historical fiction.
The best part, you can watch the entire movie on youtube as they have it in 14 parts. It is also sub-titled.
The trailer for it, is here;

If you go to parts 10 and 11, features the seige and battle scenes which are truely amazing!

This movie also features one of histories most famous cavalry unit, colorfull and overlooked, the Polish Winged Hussars!
I'm sure illmade will enjoy this!
BTW, illmade, this is for you!

People no longer study history and the famous battles of the past, history is just colorfull as any fantasy, such as the "Lord of the Rings" as many fantasy battles are often based on what actually happened in history.
This fact is especially being lost on the young today!

Dot; thanks so much for the link.....I enjoy this type of movie and agree with you 100% that the younger generation by and large doesn't seem to be interested in history.

Trailer looks awesome! But I'm forced to ask, does anyone else get the feeling that the Unicorn in that trailer isn't real?:>

I did. ;)
Everybody should know that all 'real' unicorns have a much longer mane than that one.

Another great movie on YouTube in 14 parts is "Arn, the Knight Templar" a Swedish Movie that I don't believe was ever released in the U.S. on DVD or in the Theaters. It has English subtitles has great production values and acting and is a great story of Medieval times. The sequel, "Arn, the Kingdom at Road's End" is also on YouTube in 13 parts and concludes the story the first movie started. Lots of good sword action and drama and an insight into the way things really were in the Middle Ages.
