Hi, so, I have finally finished this, it was my very first custom and it's my favorite of all I've done so far, since I had to work on absolutely every aspect of the blade and koshirae, if you don't recall here's the thread of the custom
http://www.swordsofmightforum.com/showthread.php?t=1782

I finally got to fingerstone polish the daisho
the katana was done with traditional methods with hazuya, jizuya, nugui and touch up by doing hadori, it has a suguha style hamon

The wakizashi was another story, I couldn't get the hazuya to react on the blade, so I had to do a hybrid polish with nugui on it cause I didn't felt like ordering and waiting for more fingerstone to see if I got one that would react with it, I really like the hamon pattern on this wakizashi, it starts as a suguha and then transitions to a sort of choji (it think it's choji), very nice

Anyway, here are the pics, hope you all like...sorry about the bad pics and bad photoshop crops, you know hamons, they're a pain to photograph

WAKIZASHI (couldn't get good lighting on it) ~X(

so I gave it another angle shot (those specs are dust)

daisho together... the sun didn't help much either for the lighting

The wak is particularly purdy. Love the hamon, much nicer than sughua. Great work!

Wow... just wow. I don't know what else to say. You've done a very, very excellent job on those blades. I'm sure the pictures don't do justice to totally appreciate the beauty.

Again, excellent work! =D>

Thanks everyone, I really like the hamon on the wakizashi, it came in a mirror polish finish and you could see the hamon, but it didn't impress, by doing this it really brings out the beauty on the blade, althought, suguha hamons are among my favorite, there's just something about it's simplicity

I still prefer traditional fingerstone polish over acid etching hybrid polish, the results seem similar but the fingerstone look is more clean, or maybe I'm just very messy with the FeCl, haha

and yeah, I don't know why I can't seem to take good clean picture of the hamon, I should just get a bunch of headlamps to get a more 'studio' like pictures like the pros, which I'm still far from it :lager:

thanks mako, maybe in the future when I really get good at this I could help you out by soing some of yours :king:

SWEET! Great job. I'm really impressed and will be sending you a sword shortly,jk. How long did it take you to do the polish on the wak?

Thanks bobO, it took me around 3 to 4 days, a lot of elbow grease and a bunch of band-aids for my thumb :flush:

hahaha! I would like a lot to try and polish a few sword for other people, as a cheaper alternative to the current available swords polishers, would be a nice hobby, but I would not dare touch someone else blade until I get much much better at it B-)

I'm currently trying to polish an old chen blade at the moment using the modern method of sand papers & chemicals.

I'd like to try to polish swords, but I have ABSOLUTELY no clue what I'd be doing, so I'll leave it up to you guys...I'd prefer to learn it (if possible) from people who already know what they're doing, rather than from a book or tutorial online, not withstanding the fact I don't know where to get all the materials.

Cool guys, I'm no expert, still learning on this, but if you need any tips I'll be happy to help :king:

DragonGuardian, you can get everything you need on any hardware store for a hybrid polish, for traditional polish, you must order most of it over the net

I think we're both still learning, thats the thing i love about Japanese swords, there's so much to learn about them.
