I went to see Revenge of the Fallen at 12:15am (got home at 3:30am and just about dropped dead.) It was well worth it. I'd give it 4.5/5 stars because I think some of the action scenes were too much a blur and all of the sudden it's "Wait...how'd that one get killed?" But I have very little complaint other than that (sans sitting second row and having a neck cramp.) It's a 2.5hr movie, so get comfortable in your seat. Michael Bay outdoes himself again. And let's face it, even if you don't like Transformers, it's worth it cause of Megan Fox. :king:

I went yesterday to see the movie too, I really wasn't following all the hype about it and was not interested in catching it at it's release, cause the theater is always full, but my gf was finally getting some free time from work and needed to go out

we were lucky enough to arrive and get tickets and make the line early to get good seats, I went with no expectation about the movie and totally love it, some things were a bit silly but hey, it's transformers!! yeah!!

the only thing that I found a bit over the top was how when something got blown up there was a always a bunch of dead bodies flying around, but great great movie

and hot damn, the first scene with Megan Fox sitting on the bike, I wanted to =P~ like the rest of the theater but since my gf was with me and on her special days I just kept it to myself =))

I recommend this movie if you want to have fun, oh yes, the other girl that was all over sam, was hot too, but could not make any sound cause of a similar real life incident with me :ohyeah: that my gf isn't too fund off, hahaha shhhh!!!!!

The movie was crap. Just like Wolverine and Terminator Salvation. Hollywood blows.

i'm a big transformers fan and didn't like the movie very much... the first half of the movie is watchable but then takes a nosedive in quality. biggest problem being who they chose to direct the thing... there are 5 things Michael Bay loves 1) explosions 2) slow motion shots 3) 360 degree shots 4) using the same music he's used in every other movie he's ever directed 5) explosions. i think this movie suffered from the same thing that plagued disneys pirates of the carribean franchise... trying to pack too much stuff into one movie. and the final battle wasn't enjoyable at all... half of it is 12 decepticons chasing after one human kid who they somehow cant get their hands on. and the other half is almost exclusively the humans fighting the decepticons... the autobots were in like two shots doing next to nothing... this movie had much much more potential that likely could've been realized by a director who knows how to make a movie.

on a semi separate note, (i was aware of this before seeing the movie) i was extremely tickled by how Bay had made such a huge deal about Terminator Salvation accusing the director of stealing his giant robot designs... but then he goes and puts a pretender (that girl with the freaky robotic tongue) into the movie who lets face it... is basically just a terminator

Poor Travis, Whats wrong buddy? You do not seem to have much joy in your life my friend. Anyways, I am going to see this tonight with wifey and cannot wait. Even though all the reviewers love to bash Michael Bay, I love his movies. I want explosions, I want slow mo shots and 360 degree thingies and I love his military style music picks.

no offense to anyone here

but I sometimes don't understand people, what are people expecting to see when they buy a ticket of a movie called "transformers" based on a cartoon about transforming robots that fight each other... really

I certainly don't go expecting an oscar winning performance, I just expect some action, then relax, forget about the real world for a while and have FUN

if you want to do something that will make your brain work, go read a book, don't expect to get it from a movie or from the television

I dunno Travis, I just finished watching Gran Torino. I can only hope to die that well.

Hollywood works sometimes. ;)

I second that, plus going at midnight's fun...leaves you horribly tired, but it's fun.

Hollywood works sometimes. ;)

The 1st film was amazing, the 2nd one is garbage. So are many other films that have come out lately.

Never saw Gran Torino. I'll check it out.

As for my opinion on films, I am very critical because this is what I grew up with. It upsets me when things are butchered.

i am entitled to go expecting to see a well directed movie, which i simply feel i did not during transformers 2. i personally blame the director simply because the things that bothered me about it were choices made by him. i feel the movie suffered as a direct result of michael bay and thats just my opinion on the matter. no one is more important to a movie and its success than a director. i think the movie had major major potential and that it simply fell short... i'm still gonna be buying it when it comes out and i've seen far far worse movies (anything by uwe bol comes to mind) i just think it could've been much better than it was. and from what i've been reading it sounds liek some of my biggest complaints are actually corrected in the imax version which has additional footage.

i also think that saying movies or television can't give you something enthralling or captivating is more a statement on the movies and television you immerse yourself in rather than the actual state of hollywood (though agreed hollywood is pretty... not even sure what word to use)

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, movies are pretty subjective. So are books, food, music. I plan on seeing it because it looks like a couple of hours of escape, nothing else.

Travis since I have a couple of decades on you (after that comment I had to check your age, you sounded like my Dad) I grew up on movies from the Golden Age of Hollywood, so yes a lot of todays movies suck in comparison but then again a lot of movies from those days sucked to.

Havent seen it yet. could watch a bootleg copy but this is one I'm gonna see in the theater. hopefully at IMAX! As it says may have a couple extras.

And as to the the small debate going on, I'll say I was raised as well through the 80's 90's and still being raised today.
I loved all the shows like Ninja Turtles, GI JOE, Transformers, Voltron etc etc... And was always a big comic fan as well. Mostly Marvel, but big into a few DC, Image etc.

And while I may not be a fan of how many "clasical" storylines are portrayed on the big screen, I'm very thankfull that at least someone is TRYING to bring back these pieces of my past.
I'm talking about things like Supermen, X-men, Spiderman, Fantastic 4, Terminator, Spawn, Ninja Turtles, Transformers, damn the list could go waaay on. and while every single sequil may not be my favorite, there's still a small stupid child inside me that loves the fact it was made. and would love to see more of any of em!

even if the "Director sucked" I bet any of us couldnt do better...;)

....I can understand that.....I grew up watching movies with Clark Gable, Errol Flynn, Tyrone Power, Gary Cooper, John Wayne, Humphrey Bogart, etc., etc., etc., ....... how do you think I feel about what "Hollywood" has become?....still, that said, films are supposed to entertain, to take you out of the real world for a while and if it does that and you're happy when you come out of the theater, it's done it's job. I really liked the Lord of the Rings movies but they strayed pretty far from the books and left out some large parts I would have liked to see left in.....but I was still very impressed by the films. ....very subjective I suppose.....

I was referring to growing up watching Transformers.

Of course there were bad movies "back in the day", just as there are great movies now. I just think its sad when you have a great 1st film and the 2nd is complete garbage.

Exactly. LOTR was great! As great as the books :-?, I don't think so. Its all opinion. Thats what the forum is about, I thought?

Sorry I do not seem to agree with everyone all the time. I just thought Transformers 2 was horribly put together, the comic relief sucked (The Twins, Mudflap and Skid reminded me of Jar Jar Binx. Not to mention Jetfire the drunken pirate Decepticon/Autobot), and the climax was horrible. The Fallen and the Primes looked like something from The Mummy franchise.

This film just had bad written all over it.

even if the "Director sucked" I bet any of us couldnt do better...;)

I actually think I could have. With a few changes to the film, I think it could have been better than the first.

Travis I wasn't disagreeing with you, you just reminded me of a friend who always said everything was "back in the day" he was about 21 at the time, he also liked to tell people I was 50 (I was 40 at the time) he was a good friend. So absolutely no offense intended.

I thank you for clarifying, Travis. While I try my best to respect other's opinions, it tends to annoy me with a simple "This sucked, I hated it" because I want to know the logic behind it. I will agree however that "the twins" were just flat-out worthless to the movie. Ableit I think Jetfire was supposed to be old and "senile" as he was one of the first tranformers on earth....my question, if he was one of the first, why did he look like the SR-71? I mean seriously, the other ones shown were like a Model T.

I reallllly hope they never make a Transformers movie based of the cartoons like Beast Wars. Sorry, but that series I think was more of a shot in the foot.

Haven't seen it yet. Will go this weekend with my better half.

For those of you wondering why people hate this movie, here is a quick run though. Its a nerd site so be prepared for nerd rage. They are railing against the use of their beloved kids show from the eighties being turned into a summer movie but they still cover the plot holes apparently. A friend told me its pretty accurate.

I say that anyone who has a problem with how the movie is made should go on youtube and watch the old cartoon for two and a half hours and then tell me which one is better.

ok that FAQ was hilarious... and every word of it is true...

and while the cartoon is a standard 80s cartoon i.e. rather ridiculous when you get down to it... i'll still be popping in those dvd's before i pop in transformers 2

the old cartoon can at least be entertaining... there were a few times in TF2 that i found myself peeling dead skin off a blister because it was more entertaining than whatever was going on in the "plot"
