I have a little tip I just thought about doing to protect some of our collections from dust. Many probably already do this or something similar but I thought I'd post it anyway.

I know a few of you keep your swords in their sword bags year round and thats of course the most efficient way to protect them, I however keep mine out on display I love looking at em every single day And would hate to "hide" em.

I had originally thought to go to the hobby store and get some strips of black velvet material to drape across the top of each piece, i still might. but for now I just decided to use the protection they each came with. their bags.

Its not the prettiest but its functional, washable and best of all i can still stare at my beauties and have a little more piece of mind.

Also the second from the top is my Katsumushi and I really don't know why but that sword Hates to be in its saya, so Ive left her out since day one, the dust fix on her is a cut black sock and I used the cut off part to cover the ito on the saya ;) I know real classy but hey I never claimed to be.

I'm sure I'll end up having some fabric cut to size eventually and that'll clean up the look. but for now, screw it. I'm happy.

good idea there mate

Samurai when travelling long distances, and to protect their katanas from weather they covered their tsukas and tsuka with a small bag if they'd traveled wearing their daisho on their obi, I don't know how they are called

mine are always on display and my European swords are displayed, of course, out of the scabbard.....I use a feather duster or synthetic duster to keep the dust away from my beauties....about every 2 weeks seems to do the trick....
