This is more of some random notes about the sword than a review. I wanted a handachi style and this was a great bargain. I have never bought a movie sword before. I was pleased for the money I spent on it, it was in fact the best price on the i-net (SOM). The fittings are an alloy of some type with a nice finish on them I think. The same-fake was installed in panels, and the ito that fuzzy shoe string. The seppa had China facing the outside, they may be proud of their product but I do not want to see China on my swords even if it may be true. That was swapped out with a seppa I bought from SOM. I think if you are going to have a few Japanese swords around you will need some spare seppa and mekugi. The ha-mune-machi look like it was a bad day in the shop, you can see in the photos, but the habaki covered it nicely. The Oni etch on the blade top notch, the one on the saya was weak. The sword is sharp and fitted well together before I took it apart. It has a little rattle now but that can be fixed easily. Saya was very nice except for the Oni carving. The menuki are the typical Musashi-Masahiro dragons. Both mekugi were driven in from the ura side and the ito was wrapped well. I am very pleased with it for what I spent, a nice sword for those who liked the movie. I plan to refinish it with same-gawa, ito and menuki fairly soon.
