As a long time Trek fan going back to the original series I am of two minds about this new movie...part of me wants to love it...part of me wants to hate it....
with out giving away spoilers to the movie I am afraid I can't really support either side well...

The movie had a much more modern feel than the original series with is to be expected seeing that it was made 40yrs after...the acting was overall very good. The action was a little too frantic for my taste, I tend to like to actually see what is going on instead of rapid fire bursts. A lot was changed, A WHOLE LOT as far as the history, back story etc...but at least they had a good explanation as to why. They did keep the interplay between most of the characters to the spirit of the originals.

It was very hard to see other people playing the Holy Trinity, but I will give them this, they did a good job finding actors who could pull it off. And it was great to see Nimoy again...

So over all it is a movie that is worth the time to see, and I really hope that it brings new life to the francise that was almost killed by Voyager...I think they got is right when they said "it's not your father's Star Trek" but it is Star Trek. I would give it a 9.0 out of 10

I was never into the series and I dont remember seeing any of the movies star trek or star wars either. After hearing some of the reviews I ended up going to see it in theaters on saturday, this movie was SWEET and I want to go see it AGAIN!!! Highly recomended to anyone who's not familiar with the franchise like me, just be carefull, you may become a fan.

i was never a huge trekkie fan (i'm more star wars) i enjoyed it though and i like how the beginning of the movie is more or less in original continuity but the plot and events of the movie make it an alternate timeline... however i kinda felt like all the starfleet commanders were sick the day they taught strategy...

I do have to add that Eric Bana was the least memorable villian in all Star Trek History!!! Five minutes after seeing the show I was like "Who were the bad guys again???" Which considering all the Great or at least flamboyant villians of the past is really sad to say..

I liked Voyager and Enterprise.

Don't understand why they got slagged in the popular reviews.

Don't care neither.

DS9, otoh... :torch::sumo:
