......Mark Wahlberg is always great in kick a$$ action shooters, this movie is no exception.....it plays like a graphic novel (Sin City, 300 etc.). The action is great, the tension is high, the weapons are many and various. If you like action movies, you'll like this one and it's out on DVD now. DON'T MISS IT!.....do i make myself clear?B-)

I thought this movie was OK. Started off great, but really kinda went no where. Was very entertaining, but had no substance. It definitely left me wanting more. Had real potential.

2.5 out of 5 I would say.

Really didn't find much to like about it, Ok I guess if you want a pure shoot-um-up but thats about all.

I don't understand why people say it could be better, unless they had never played the game. Max Payne is hands down the best movie ever made about a video game character. I love the Noir way it is filmed, the characters had depth (although I didn't care much for Mila Kunis acting) it was like watching the first Max Payne VG in live action. Allot of reviews I read said there wasn't t enough action, I thought it was a sufficient amount, cause lets face it the game is really over the top violent, I cannot wait for the next one

Brian; that's what I was trying to convey.......not putting anybody down but don't understand how a movie can be "very entertaining" but not that good??? and if you're looking for "substance" you probably shouldn't be watching an action shooter...."Gone With the Wind" maybe?

When I say "not that good, but entertaining" it means I can sit through it with out wanting to rip my hair out. As for substance, that just meant the acting was not that good, although I really liked Mark Wahlberg in "The Departed". I think that was a great film and should definitely be talked about. It had substance ;)

As for it being like the game, I own both, It was close, but could have been done better.

Sometimes these reviews remind me of watching Siskel and Ebert! =))
We all have different opinions.
We all have our reasons for having them.
I just go by the guys who have a similar taste in movies.
Although most of the time I'm easy to please, (as long as there is plenty of mayhem).
Although certain movies like "Alexander", I absolutely violently hated, for personal and historical reasons.

Please don't do that!
You're one of the guys that has similar tastes as mine! :)
I don't go to movies much anymore (at the Theatre), so I rely on these reviews. Even if, when the posters reviews disagree, it gives me enough insight to know, if I will like it or not. :ohyeah:

Yeah Tora, don't let Travis run you off, he hates everything... =))

I almost forgot to ask, how is this flick compared to Shooter? It's going to be tough to top a movie where you get to kill corrupt officials and then walk off while their bodies are burning...oooohhhhh man, I need a cigarette.
