Wow, here I am to do a review of Appaloosa and so I grabbed the case to check the run time, which I thought was close to 3 hours; turns out it was 1 hour and 54 minutes (that just about says it all). It started out pretty good; but the minute Zellwegger shows up, right in the chamber pot went everything else. I have never seen such a bad tactical move, made by a so called professional gunman, as to get tired up with a widow woman (thats 1), let everybody know it (thats 2), and then get all lovvey dovvey for real (thats 3, 4 & 5).
Its worth a watch just for the costumes, guns and such, if you like the old west...just FF when you see Mrs. French, and the flick should make a nice watch.
I'll give it 3 out of 5 ***, based on the work of Harris and Mortensen alone; let alone Irons and Henricksen, who play consumate bad men. (Just one more thing, if its karioakee night at bobO's, and Ed Harris wants to sing, double up on the shooters.)

I'll give it a watch. My favorite riding horse was an appy, Tora, got kicked outta lecompton on pioneer day on that horse. The town folk thought that me and my buddy was to drunk and might run over the children. Our thinking was, what's a pioneer day without some drunken rowdy cowboys, probably a good thing we forgot the guns at home.

Saw this one at the theater.....actually thought it was pretty good.......Read the book by Robert B. Parker (of Spenser fame) and the dialogue is tight and hard boiled. If you like westerns (and I do) you'll like this one......

Two years of rodeo and I have a healthy respect for our four hoofed friends. Last time I got on one out in west Texas he and I had a long talk about our mutual behavior. Worked out okay, he did not run off and leave me and I never used my spurs. The horse was not much of a blood hound, we never found any game:-<

I've never tried rodeo, although we have one here in town every summer along with the county fair......but my riding horse is a buckskin gelding, black mane, tail, and socks....he belongs to the neighboring rancher.....I help him with his livestock and he gives me riding priviledges ....a very nice arrangement

Better than to have never tried rodeo at all that suffer the consequences on a cold night. I was not meant for rodeo, the bulls let me know so.

The horse I was riding was his and I was on her for the first time. I had asked him if she was car shy. He said no. Pretty soon a school bus came by and this horse jumped sideways about 10 feet, no warning just boing over the drainage ditch into a field. When I could talk again I asked what the F*#K. He was laughing so hard he could barely stay in the saddle. She don't mind cars he says, but she hates school buses! Cowboy humor. Horses, Dangerous at both ends and uncomfortable in the middle.

I did like the movie, at least enough to watch it twice; maybe its RZ's voice that makes me cringe. I really enjoyed the interaction between the two main characters, that was extremely well played I thought.
She was just a bit too manipulative...maybe that reminded me of somebody I once knew...uhhh, yeah, that might just be it.
