Epic, bloody, tragic, and down right passionate, Mongol delivers the mayhem of Braveheart, the spectacle of Ran, along with a close up examination of the formative years of one of the ancient worlds greatest conquerors.
I have read that Mongol is planned as the first part of a trilogy that looks into the life and times of Ghenghis Kahn; at just over 2 hours it tells a detailed and interesting story of the main character and those who helped shape his complex persona. You come away from this film feeling like you just had a glimpse inside the world of these people. You also get some incredible scenery and sweeping vistas, not to mention some incredible sky and storm scenes.
Oh, and bobO, there is plenty of good old fashioned, home spun, gut wrenching torture, which should help to keep you all warm and fuzzy on those cold nights while you roam the Steppes looking for children to feed your hounds.
I give Mongol 4.99999 stars.:horseplop:
