hi! this is my first post and i wanted to know wich of these swords (and swordmakers if possible) is better:

Practical Plus Katana SH2073

Detailed Description The Practical Plus Katana is an exciting addition to the Hanwei Samurai sword line, providing a very economical cutting sword as dependable as the Practical Katana, but using more traditional fittings and construction methods. The blade is forged and differentially tempered (HRC60 edge, HRC40 back) and the hamon is prominent. The Practical Plus features genuine Same (Rayskin) on the Tsuka, with a wrap (Tsuka-Ito) specially developed for its gripping qualities. The long tang is double-pegged for security. The fittings of the Practical Plus are decorated in a Japanese Dogwood motif with dragon menuki, and the handsome Tsuba is of an iron "sunburst" design with a brass habaki.

Paul Chen Practical Plus Katana Features:

or

Musha 1060 Ko-Katana

The Musha class of weapons offers practicality at an elevated level. The focus is on durability and performance – these swords are a perfect introduction to the arcane of the Samurai warrior tradition. These well-balanced, robust blades are made of exceptionally resilient 1060 spring steel. The utilitarian design, offering no more than what is required to fulfill its purpose, makes this a superior handling sword offering surprisingly strong cutting performance at a very reasonable price. This is the Hi-Spec version, which offers upgraded fittings and a hand-burnished Mune, increasing the esthetics while keeping the core strength of the blade. The Musha class fully attests to the old Samurai saying: “A good sword is a good sword.”
Blade: 23.5"
Tsuka: 11.5"

First of all I would suggest you take a look at Swords of Might's wiiide selection of Katanas. Around your price range I would suggest looking into the Practical Plus that you have listed here and possibly Ryumon's Okinawa Katana - both have received great praise from the community here.

I'm a huge fan of all Paul Chen (Hanwei) products, I just haven't found other swords to meet the quality that they have - so out of the two listed, Paul Chen (Hanwei) is a better company IMO. Also Jason here (who posted above me) is great with his customers and is the best owner/operator I have ever met, so try checking out the site ;)

Jason that price is to that arms of valor store he has up there, I guess he doesnt know that Swords of Might is also a store with better prices. As for your choices, you cannot go wrong with the PPK, especially at what Jason sells it for $230, I have had the Musha class KoKatana, it is a very beefy blade and if your at all on the skinny or small size you should steer clear of the Ko, also I got mine with a cracked tsuka as did Bobo, I think that is a problem for those swords, but they are worth having a new tsuka made

Yeah Travis, It looks suspiciously, just like that other guy that was too cheap to get his own site, and was trying to use ours.
While it might not be, he shows a manufacturer's description that probably mirrors the same specs on the 'Arms' site.
I could see using their specs, but why also quote their prices? Especially when the prices here are lower.
Irregardless, whether it is another sword store or not, we have been bombarded at SOM with trash sites daily (porn, etc.,),by susposed new members.
Jason allows a lot (allows sales of private swords, etc.,), but 'read' the rules he has posted, when you join this site.
Also any new guys, try just using common sense also. As Travis said, for a first post linking to another site, looks suspicious.

Besides he is looking for a witch katana, I always thought witches used brooms, I'm not quite sure about the Japanese ones though! :)
Majo no katana (sword of the witch), maybe some of the forum-members ex-wifes could help with this one. =))

That explains things more clearly and it may be helpful if you put your location in your profile so other members know that Jason's line of products aren't available to you...or me. =(

In fact,I think everyone should give a location, even if it's just the Country so that wires don't get crossed and I'm gonna amend mine right now.
