This is an old and dated wargame that has been played by wargamers for years. It is virtually a miniatures wargame converted to the computer.
Plays the same way as the miniatures game.

This is the site;

http://www.dbaol.com/start.htm

Hit the 'explore armies' link, and then click on any of the historical armies to see what they consisted of. This site is great just for the historical reference of what each army looked like and what it consisted of.
It covers the ancients and medieval period, for SCA members it would be an excellent source of info.
To play the game is not all that easy, as it is for wargamers that play this game with miniatures (diehard crowd), the graphics are ancient by todays standards. But the historical information (armies) is invaluable, even if you don't play the game.
The best part, it is free!

That's a very interesting link Dotanuki san...if only for the historical value as you've said.
Nice one. =D>

As a update on this site.
I've noticed now that they now have 220 painted armies covering the ancient and medieval period.
This is a excellent source for those looking to see what the armies of olde looked like.
When it comes to knowledge, I've always found that if you go to a "historical" wargaming site, you will usually find what you are looking for, as opposed to a strict historical search.

Very interesting site there, Dot, It's good to see some historically accurate figures there...I sorta fit into the crowd that calls those graphics ancient...but hey, ancient combat, ancient look, yah? :blackeye:
